David A. Cheatle, 53, of 240 Fourth Street, St. Marys, died unexpectedly on Thursday, April 14, 2016.

He was born on June 7, 1962, in St. Marys, a son of the late Vernon J. and Anna M. Young Cheatle.

On September 21, 1989 in St. Marys, he married Dawn Gagliardi Cheatle, who survives.

Dave was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of ECCHS.  He served in the U.S. Army and had been employed at Metaldyne for more than 30 years.  He was a member of the PFL and a pool league.  He was an avid golfer who also enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He liked the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers and enjoyed trips to Salamanca.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife of nearly 27 years, Dawn Gagliardi Cheatle, he is survived by two sons, Adam Cheatle and his fiance Rachael Mackey and Alex Cheatle, both of St. Marys, and by three grandchildren, Trevor, Brielle and Connell.  He is also survived by five brothers, Thomas (Katie) Cheatle of Wheatland, CA, Gary Cheatle of San Francisco, CA, Timothy (Toni) Cheatle of Deltona, FL, Daniel (Denise) Cheatle of St. Marys, Alan Cheatle of Seattle, WA, by one sister, Judy Windle of Wayahachie, TX and by his father-in-law, Louis Gagliardi of St. Marys, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Cheatle, William Cheatle and Vernon Cheatle, Jr. and by one sister, Mariann Cheatle Dick.

A Memorial Service for David A. Cheatle will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Lynch-Green Funeral Home. 

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
Military Honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.
