Edward J. "Sonny" Ott, 83, a resident of Pinecrest Manor in St. Marys, died on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Pinecrest Manor following a brief illness.

He was born on October 7, 1933, in St. Marys, a son of the late Charles and Marian Feidler Ott.

He was married to Edith Gagliardi Ott, who preceded him in death on December 25, 1998.

Sonny was a lifelong resident of the area and had worked at Modern Dairy for many years.  He was Catholic by faith and enjoyed flying twin engine planes.  He was an avid fan of Freddy Fender and enjoyed music, cooking, and working on cars in his younger years.  He was lovingly referred to as "Pops", and grew to know and love the staff at Pinecrest Manor, who became his extended family over the years he spent there.  His favorite saying was "So long, see you later.  Never goodbye..."

He is survived by four daughters, Marian Servidea of St. Marys, Yvonne "Bonnie" Williamson of St. Marys, Cynthia Ott of Reynoldsville, Brenda (John) Meier of Shippensburg and by three sons, Edward (Barb) Ott of St. Marys, Charles (Vicki) Ott of St. Marys and Martin (Jen) Ott of Dagus Mines.
He is also survived by 20 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a son Melvin Ott in 1993, a daughter, Deborah Wonderling in 2015, six sisters, Gertrude Wilson, Bertha Glatt, Evelyn Cuneo, Florence "Flossie" Donachy, Mary Jane Zimmett and Gracie Ott in infancy.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Edward J. Ott will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at 12:00 PM at St. Marys Church, Church Street, St. Marys, PA with Rev. Alfred Patterson, OSB, officiating.

There will be no visitation.
