Elsie M. Hoffman, 85, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of 122 Averyville Road, St. Marys, died on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.

She was born on July 23, 1931, in Liverpool, England a daughter of the late Joseph and Lilian Dunwoody Tetlow.

On February 20, 1954 at Burtonwood Air Force Base in Liverpool, England, she married James E. Hoffman, who preceded her in death on October 19, 1985.

Mrs. Hoffman was a member of Queen of the World Church.  She enjoyed singing, birdwatching, butterflies, and crocheting.  She was also known to enjoy a good game of Scrabble with her family and friends.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by a daughter, Elaine Hoffman of St. Marys and by four sons, Eugene Hoffman, Steve Hoffman, Gary (Kim) Hoffman and Dennis (Lynn) Hoffman, all of St. Marys, by seven grandchildren, Cory (Julie) Hoffman, Angela (Sean) McFarland, Josh Hoffman, Daryl "DJ" Hoffman, Mason Hoffman, Dillon Hoffman, and Cheyanne Hoffman, and by three great-granddaughters.  She is also survived by one sister, Lilian Pyclik of Peru, Indiana, and by two brothers, Eric Tetlow and Ronnie Tetlow, both of Liverpool, England, as well as by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Tetlow.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Elsie M. Hoffman will be celebrated on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at 12:00 PM at Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, PA with Rev. Richard Allen, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

There will be no public visitation.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to Elk Haven Nursing Home Activities Fund.
