Elvera S. "Vera" Cannella, 94, a resident of Westmoreland Manor in Greensburg, PA and formerly of 1146 Johnsonburg Road, St. Marys, died on Friday, September 9, 2016 at Westmoreland Manor.

She was born on June 13, 1922, a daughter of the late Antonio and Judita Milesi Scolari.

On November 23, 1944 in Hamot by Fr. Francis Schlinwine, she married Aldo P. Cannella, who preceded her in death on December 5, 2005.

Mrs. Cannella was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Kersey High School.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and had been very active there for many years as a volunteer.  She retired from Sylvania after many years of service.  She enjoyed picnic lunches, Sunday drives, and board games around the kitchen table with her family and friends.  In her later years, she was a member of the Senior Center and she was crowned the Senior Citizen's Queen, which she was quite proud of.  She also enjoyed spending time at the Senior Center playing cards and Wii bowling. 

She is survived by a daughter, Judith Ann (Donald) Anderson of Irwin, two sons, John (Yvonne) Cannella of Kane and Brian (Christine) Cannella of St. Marys, as well as by 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Heather Joy Anderson and Nicole Faith Cannella in infancy, two brothers, Peter Scolari and Frank Scolari, three sisters, Lena Van Epps, Irma Grimone, and Jenny Roscosky and by a sister in infancy, Gabrielle Scolari

A Mass of Christian Burial for Elvera S. Cannella will be celebrated on Saturday, September 17, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 337 Center Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, officiating.
Interment will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Saturday morning , September 17, 2016 from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM.
