Eton M. "Buster" Karenchak, 72, of Camp Hill, PA and formerly of St. Marys, PA, died on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at UPMC Hamot following an unexpected illness.
He was born on August 4, 1944 in Monessen, PA, a son of the late Alexander and Elizabeth "Betty" Layman Karenchak.
On August 28, 1976, in Rochester, PA, he married Crystal Heckel Karenchak, who survives.
Buster was a graduate of Monessen High School, class of 1963, where he was also part of the APIAL Class AA 1961 State Championship Team.  He also ranked 4th on the 1962 AP All-Star Team for Center was a WPIAL All-Star two times running.  He enjoyed center position and played that position in the 1963 Big 33 Game.  He had also been a member of the Monessen WPIAL Section 16 Baseball Championship Team.  He attended Mississippi State and Idaho State Universities.  He then served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was the recipient of a Purple Heart.  He lived in St. Marys for more than 33 years and owned and operated the Singer Sewing Machine Store.  He greatly enjoyed sports and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Crystal Heckel Karenchak, he is survived by three sons, Bryan (Bethany) Cannella of Ambler, PA, Greg Cannella of Manassas, VA, and Zachary Karenchak of Camp Hill, PA.  He is also survived by two grandsons, a sister, Ruth (Vernon) Holmes of Arizona, a brother, Mark (Lisa) Karenchak of Fox Chapel, and by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Neal Heiberger, and by a brother, Andrew Karenchak.
A Memorial Service for Eton M. "Buster" Karenchak will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 12:00 PM at the Good Shepard Church, N. St. Marys St., St. Marys, PA 15857.

Military Honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.
