Helen H. Hoy, 93, of 1149 Johnsonburg Road, St. Marys, died on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Pinecrest Manor surrounded by her family following a brief illness.

She was born on December 27, 1922, in Johnsonburg, a daughter of the late Alfred and Catherine Sweeney Hinchliffe.

On November 14, 1942 in Bryan, TX, she married David D. Hoy, who survives.

Mrs. Hoy was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Johnsonburg High School, class of 1940.  She was a member of the St. Marys Church and was a member of the Rosary Altar Society.  She was a longtime volunteer for the Catholic school cafeteria and for Meals on Wheels.  She also volunteered at the hospital and was a member of the Red Hat Society.

In addition to her husband of more than 73 years, David D. Hoy, she is survived by a daughter, Betsy Healy and her husband John of St. Marys, a son Jeffrey Hoy and his wife Tracy of New Wilmington, and by four grandchildren, Sean (Bridget) Healy of Pittsburgh, Diana (Brian) Caiazza of New Wilmington, David Hoy of Grove City and Katherine (Steve Marquart) of Hopewell Junction, NY.  She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Meghan, Tully, Brian and Julian and by two special nieces, Joyce (Bob) Arnold and Kathy (Jim) Herzing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Martin Hinchliffe and Thomas Hinchliffe and by three sisters, Shirley Tuttle, Alice McKnight and June Smith.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Helen H. Hoy will be celebrated on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at 10:00 AM at St. Marys Church, Church Street, St. Marys, with Rev. Alfred Patterson, OSB, officiating.

Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Elk County Humane Society, St. Marys Church, Holy Rosary Church or to a charity of choice.
