John V. "Jack" Erich, 77, of 133 Wehler Road, St. Marys, died on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Penn Highlands Elk following a brief illness.

He was born on December 18, 1939, in St. Marys, a son of the late Alfred "Fritz" and Edna Filer Erich.  Jack was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of Queen of the World Church.

On September 28, 1961 in Queen of the World Church, he married Jean Vollmer Erich, who preceded him in death on April 16, 2010.

Jack was employed by the Benzinger Township and City of St. Marys Street Department, and had owned and operated Erich's Gun Shop.  He was a member of the Sportmans Club, and enjoyed camping, hunting, and going out to eat.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by two sons, Glenn Erich and his wife Fran of St. Marys, Blaine Erich of Kersey, and by two grandsons, Jesse Erich of Kersey and Nicholas Erich of St. Marys.  He is also survived by three sisters, Helen "Tubby" Rhines, Kathleen "Katty" (Luke) Wehler and Judith (James) Wendel, all of St. Marys, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Jean Vollmer Erich, he was preceded in death by two sons, Gregg Erich on December 10, 2011 and Brian Erich on February 4, 2012.  He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Erich, and by two sisters, Gloria "Binky" Eichmiller and Shirley Spence Adams.

A Mass of Christian Burial for John V. Erich will be celebrated on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at 10:00 AM at Queen of the World Church with Rev. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.
