Kenneth L. Yanak, 80, of 1553 Bucktail Rd., St. Marys, died Tuesday morning, June 28, 2016 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
He was born May 3, 1936 in St. Marys, a son of the late Michael and Anna Vollmer Yanak.
On Nov. 23, 1957, he married Elizabeth "Betty" Facetti, who preceded him in death in 1987.


Ken was a lifelong resident of the area and was Catholic by faith. He was a veteran of  the US Army, having served during the Korean War.  He worked at Stackpole for a number of years and then spent most of his life as a truck driver, having worked for Eagle Express when he retired. He greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing, and found great pleasure in discussing hunting with his grandsons, with whom he shared his love of being in the woods. He also enjoyed playing cards and never turned down a game of Texas Hold' Em. He was the last member of his immediate family.


He is survived by three sons, Darren Yanak and his wife Cathy of St. Marys, LeRoy Yanak and his wife Dorie of St. Marys and Mike Yanak of West Hollywood, Calif.; four daughters, Arlene Mahoney and her husband Ken of St. Marys, Barb Greenthaner and her husband Mike of St. Marys, Sharon Taylor and her husband Rick of St. Marys and Brenda Yanak and her husband Greg Schneider of Pottstown; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by twin sons, Tim and Tom Yanak on June 14, 1973; and by a brother, Richard Yanak.


Funeral services for Kenneth L. Yanak will be held Friday, July 1 at 11 a.m. at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home with Fr. Alfred Patterson, pastor of St. Mary's Church, officiating.
Military honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.


Visitation will be held Thursday, June 30 from 5-8 p.m. at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home.
