William E. Lecker, 90, of 540 Chestnut Street, St. Marys, died on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a short illness.

He was born on January 6, 1926, in St. Marys, a son of the late Alfred and Salome Hacherl Lecker.

On July 9, 1949 in St. Marys Church, he married Vera Feiley Lecker, who preceded him in death on October 17, 2004.

Mr. Lecker was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of Queen of the World Church.  He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in December of 1943 and was discharged in 1946 as a Corporal after serving in the Land and Water Rescue.  He was a carpenter for more than 40 years and worked at Stackpole Carbon Company for many years, retiring in 1990.
Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and taking photos of wildlife.  He was also a member of the American Legion and enjoyed his work on the computer making slide shows of elk and eagles.

He is survived by a son, Joel Lecker and his wife Marijo of Charlottesville, VA a daughter, Mary Jo (Douglas) Quintanilla of Los Angeles, CA and by two grandchildren, Katie Lecker and her fiance Charles Webster and Jessica Quintanilla.  He is also survived by a brother, Fred Lecker, of Colorado and a sister, Ann Jackson of Texas, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Mark Lecker and Paul Lecker, and by a sister, Joan Zwernaman.

Funeral and committal services for William L. Lecker are being held privately and at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery,
