William L. "Bill" VanAlstine, 66, of 173 Maplewood Road, St. Marys, died on Monday, February 27, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
 
He was born on October 30, 1950, a son of the late John "Jack" and Kathleen "Nancy" Cartwright VanAlstine.
 
On October 23, 1976 in St. Perpetua Church in McKeesport, he married Terri Mortle VanAlstine, who survives.
 
Bill was a lifelong resident of the area and worked in the powdered metal industry all of his career, which the last 21 years were at Eastern Sintered Alloy, where he held the position of Plant Manager.  Years ago, he was a member of the band, Turtleback Mountain Boys.  An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and going to camp.  He also enjoyed the family dog, Tucker.  Bill was also a big fan of Penn State and the Steelers.  Most of all, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
 
In addition to his beloved wife of more than 40 years, Terri Mortle VanAlstine, he is survived by a son, Brian VanAlstine of St. Marys, and by two daughters, Mara "Missy" VanAlstine of Virginia Beach, VA, and Anna VanAlstine of State College.  He was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren; Tyler, Kara, Kaleb, Jaxon, and Bryson.  He is also survived by a brother, Richard (Kimberly) VanAlstine of Greenville, SC, a sister,Valerie VanAlstine of Erie, and by two nephews, Zachary and Noah Hickoff.
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, Cara Renee VanAlstine, and by a brother in infancy, Brian John VanAlstine.
 
A Mass of Christian Burial for William L. VanAlstine will be celebrated on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 12:00 PM at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Eric Vogt, O.S.B., officiating.
Interment will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.

 
Although flowers are appreciated, the family would prefer that Memorial Contributions, if desired, may be made to the Elk County Humane Society, 1029 E. Eschbach Road, St. Marys, PA 15857 or to the Community Nurses Hospice, 757 Johnsonburg Road, Suite 200, St. Marys, PA 15857.
