Grace M. Hanes

Grace M. Hanes, 93, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of 165 Larch Road, St. Marys, died on Monday, July 30, 2018 at Elk Haven Nursing Home.

She was born on March 28, 1925, a daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Rebic Francis.

On  February 2, 1946 in Pittsburgh, she married Linus Hanes, who preceded her in death on December 17, 1976.

Mrs. Hanes worked at the former Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital for more than 25 years in the cafeteria.  She enjoyed sitting on her porch and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Valerie (Roger Babcock) Hanes of Bolivar, NY, five grandchildren, Toby (Cady) Hanes, Molly (Brandon) Smith, Casey Hanes, Jason (Marguerite) Hanes and Stephanie Larabee and by 7 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.  She is also survived by a special niece, Linda Fritz of St. Marys, and by her dear friend, Michelle Ripple, as well as by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Greg Hanes in 2010, four sisters, Marie Herzing, Annie Grieggs, Katherine Loeffler, and Helen Moneta, by six brothers, Mark, William, Frank, Charles, Richard, and Joseph Francis and by three brothers in infancy, Lawrence, Jacob, and Joseph Francis.

Funeral Services for Grace M. Hanes will be held on Wednesday, August 1, at 12:00 PM at Lynch-Green Funeral Home with Fr. Jeffery Noble, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held privately.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Elk Haven Nursing Home Activities Fund.
