Helen M. Herbstritt, 90, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of Edward Road, St. Marys, died on Monday, May 22, 2017 following a lengthy illness.

She was born on September 8, 1926, a daughter of the late John and Mary Holjencin Liptak.

On April 26, 1947 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help with Fr. Francis Ferrara, she married William G. Herbstritt, who preceded her in death on April 26, 2006.

Helen was a graduate of Bennetts Valley High School, class of 1945.  She was employed by Stackpole Carbon and St. Marys Carbon, where she retired from in 1990 after more than 33 years of service.

She is survived by one son, Michael Herbstritt of St. Marys, 2 grandchildren, Andrew W. (Shea) Herbstritt of Meadville, and Robynne Stephens of Lancaster, and by 2 great-grandchildren, Braydon and Amelia Stephens.  She was the last member of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Russel W. Herbstritt in 1986, one great-grandchild, and by two sisters, Mary Bianco and Mary "Mag" Casolo.  She was also preceded in death by seven brothers, John, Fred, Steve, George, Louis, Joseph and William Liptak, and by four brothers in infancy.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Helen M. Herbstritt will be celebrated on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 10:00 AM at St. Marys Church, Church Street, St. Marys, PA with Rev. Alfred Patterson, OSB, officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM.
