James J. "Jim" Sorg, 73, of 1065 S. Michael Road, St. Marys, died on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at his home following a lengthy illness.

He was born on October 7, 1943, in St. Marys, a son of the late John and Rosemarie Gausman Sorg.

On November 29, 1975 in Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg, he married Victoria Sweeney Sorg, who survives.

Jim was a lifelong resident of the area and had served in the U.S, Army.  Prior to opening his auto repair shop, he had worked at Stackpole, Pistner's, and C & K Coal, a Division of Gulf Resources.  After starting Sorg's Auto Repair, he was self-employed for many years and enjoyed his work there.  His passion was working on cars.  He also enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles and muscle cars.

In addition to his wife of nearly 42 years, Victoria Sweeney Sorg, he is survived by a daughter, Kristie Sorg of St. Marys, two sons, Allen (Crystal Hulings) Sorg of St. Marys and David Sorg of Johnsonburg and by six grandchildren, Joshua and Shelby Sorg, Ryan, Autumn, and Damon Sorg, and Beau Azzato.  He is also survived by a sister, Grace Sorg of St. Marys, and by a brother, George (Barbara) Sorg of Kersey, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Henry, Edward, Benedict, and William Sorg.

A Mass of Christian Burial for James J. Sorg will be celebrated on Monday, August 14, 2017, at 10:00 AM at Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, officiating.  Family and friends will be received at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of the Mass.
Interment will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
