Robert G. "Rote" Vogt, Jr., 65, of 132 Robin Road, St. Marys, died on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family, following a brief illness.

He was born on January 4, 1952, in St. Marys, a son the late Robert "Fish" and Joyce Wehler Vogt.

On May 11, 1974 in St. Marys, he married Vicki Steudler Vogt, who survives.

Bob was a lifelong resident of the area and had been employed at Metaldyne in Ridgway for the last 25 years.  He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and enjoyed trap and skeet shooting.  He enjoyed the outdoors and watching his trail cam.  Most of all, he enjoyed his grandchildren and attending their games and sporting events.

In addition to his wife, Vicki Steudler Vogt, he is survived by two sons,
Paul (Nikki) Vogt, Dan (Lisa) Vogt and one daughter, Leah Beimel, all of St. Marys, and by 10 grandchildren.  He is also survived by four sisters, Mary Jo (Joseph) Bolitiski of Daguscahonda, Christine (Blaine) Stauffer of Rome, NY, Judy Vogt of St. Marys and Emily Saline of St. Marys, and by six brothers, Fr. Eric Vogt, OSB, Michael (Elaine) Vogt, Kenneth (Gerry) Vogt, Dale (Jen) Vogt, John (Dawn) Vogt, and Joseph Vogt, all of St. Marys.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Vogt III in 2012, and by a sister, Cheryl Herzing.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert G. Vogt, Jr. will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at 12:00 PM at Sacred Heart Church, Center Street, St. Marys, with Fr. Eric Vogt, OSB, as celebrant.
Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Monday, June 19, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
