Beth Gornati Obituary

Beth A. Gornati, 67, of Brusselles Street, St. Marys, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in September 2, 1954 in Warren, PA, a daughter of Kenneth and Dorothy Michaels Carlson, who survive of St. Marys.

On January 23, 1981, she married Ray “Rudy” Gornati, who survives.  Together they shared more than 41 years of love, laughter, and happiness.

Beth was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, class of 1972.  She was a dedicated member of First United Methodist Church, where she was very active and volunteered for many years.  She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for more than 40 years, always enjoying the time she spent with the kids.  She worked for a number of years at the local hospital, serving as an Operating Room attendant and as a nurse’s aide at Pinecrest.  She also did private duty nursing for more than 10 years, always enjoying the friendships she made along the way.  She also worked at Stewart’s Jewelers and Goetz’s Flowers over the years.

One of her greatest treasures in life was being a grandmother, and she loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren.  A talented decorator, she enjoyed crafting beautiful window displays.  She also loved gardening and going for walks.  She will be fondly remembered as kind and compassionate wife, mother, and grandmother.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she is survived by her two daughters; Kim Sloff and her husband Mike, and Amanda Annis and her husband Shay, both of St. Marys and by six grandchildren; Isaiah, Tyler, Roger “RJ”, Rachel, Nickolas, and Christian.  She is also survived by six siblings; Cindy (John) Calcagno of Bradford, Susie Carlson of St. Marys, Michelle (Joe) Frontino of Bradford, Shawn (Laura) Carlson of St. Marys, Jeffrey (Jill) Carlson of St. Marys, and Kerry (Dave) Vollmer of St. Marys, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother; Greg Carlson.
