Charles "Spike" Fanning III Obituary


Charles C. "Spike" Fanning, III, 67, of 45 Plum Street, Weedville, died on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Pinecrest Manor following a lengthy illness.
He was born on January 28, 1954, in Painsville, OH, a son of the late Charles C. Fanning, Jr. and the late Elizabeth Schwarz Fanning Vito.

Spike spent his life with his longtime love and soulmate, Luann Altomare, who preceded him in death on Oct. 21, 2007.

Spike attended Kane High School and then served in the U.S. Army.  He received a degree from the North Central Skill School for Machining and worked as a machinist for most of his life.  He enjoyed riding motorcycles and playing his guitar.

He is survived by three daughters; Brandi Beimel and her husband Matthew of St Marys, Vicki Irwin of Lewis Run, and Amber Couch of Kane, and by two sons; Charles Fanning, IV, and Michael Fanning both of Bradford, and by seven grandchildren; Cyruss, Richard, Robert, Calli, Bryson, Harper, and Lucas.  He is also survived by two sisters; Cheryl Fanning of Kane, and Donna McPherson of FL, and by one brother; Michael Vito of Plattsburgh, NY as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his lifelong best friend, Brad Arnold of Ridgway.

In addition to his parents and his longtime girlfriend, he was preceded in death by his step-father; Pat Vito, and by a sister; Patricia Welser.

Funeral and Committal Services are being held privately and at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Kane.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Patriot Guard Riders.
