Dorothy L. Carlson, 92, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of Charles Street, St. Marys, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's.
She was born on February 10, 1931 in Bradford, a daughter of the late Walter and Lois Clark Michaels.
On April 29, 1950, in Bradford, PA, she married Kenneth Carlson, who survives. Together they shared more than 73 years of marriage.
Dorothy was a graduate of Bradford High School and a lifelong member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed working at Fisher Big Wheel, where she made many friends over the years and enjoyed visiting with people. Dorothy was a social butterfly who loved her family and took great delight in being a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She could often be found playing games with her kids and grandkids and enjoyed afternoon coffee with her neighbors. She also had an artistic side and enjoyed decorating her home. Dorothy will be fondly remembered for her vibrant, fun-loving, and outgoing personality, often having more jokes in her wallet than money, yet always giving the gift of a smile and laugh to anyone she met.
In addition to her husband Ken of more than 73 years, she is survived by 6 children; Cynthia (John) Calcagno of Bradford, Michelle "Shelly" (Joe) Frontino of Bradford, Suzanne "Suzy" Carlson of St. Marys, Shawn (Laura) Carlson of St. Marys, Jeffrey (Jill) Carlson of St. Marys, Kerry (Dave) Vollmer of St. Marys; and by a son-in-law, Ray Gornati of St. Marys. She is also survived by her 9 beloved grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by two children; Gregory Carlson and Beth Ann Gornati, and by three siblings; Robert Michaels, Walter "Mike" Michaels, and Marian Frontino. Funeral Services for Dorothy L. Carlson will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 12:00 PM at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Wiest, officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Marys Protestant Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 10:30 AM until the time of the service.
