Gregory Wendel Obituary


Gregory E. Wendel, 55, a resident of Pinecrest Manor and formerly of 721 S. Michael Road, St. Marys, died on Thursday, February 20, 2020 following a lengthy battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
He was born on August 11, 1964 in St. Marys, a son of Leander and Christine Miles Wendel, who survive of St. Marys.
Greg was a graduate of SMAHS, class of 1981 and a member of Queen of the World Church. He attended technical schooling in both Ridgway and Pittsburgh, and worked for a number of years as a machinist.  An avid outdoorsman, he greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.  He also enjoyed music.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister; Connie (Jason A. Smith) Wendel and by a brother; Brandon Wendel, both of St. Marys, and by his niece and nephews, Alyssa and Dylan Pontious and Colton Wendel.  He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, including a special aunt, Jane Dixon, whom Greg was very close to and who made it a point to send Greg a card weekly during his stay in the nursing home.
A Mass of Christian Burial is being scheduled and will be announced at a later date. Burial will be in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Elk County Humane Society or to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
