Leander Wendel Obituary

Leander M. "Lee" Wendel, 78, of 123 Grandview Road, St. Marys, died on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

He was born on April 26, 1942, a son of the late Edward and Bernetta Schreiber Wendel.

On September 7, 1963 in Queen of the World Church, he married Christine Miles Wendel, who survives of St. Marys.

Lee was a graduate of St. Marys High School, class of 1960.  Over the years, he worked at Elite Metals and Carbon City.  He was a member of the PFL and the CMF.  He greatly enjoyed the outdoors, especially going to camp, hunting, and fishing.  His favorite pastime was going to McDonalds to visit with his friends, especially Clem, over a cup of coffee.

In addition to his wife more than 57 years, he is survived by one daughter; Connie (Jason A. Smith) Wendel of St. Marys and by one son; Brandon Wendel of St. Marys.  He is also survived by three grandchildren; Alyssa and Dylan Pontious and Colton Wendel, as well as by one brother; Larry Wendel and his wife Anita of St. Marys.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son; Gregory Wendel in 2020.

Funeral Services for Leander M. "Lee" Wendel are being scheduled and will be held at a later date.

Interment will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
