Rita R. Wehler

Rita R. Wehler, 91, of 525 N. St. Marys Street, St. Marys, died on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Penn Highlands Elk following a brief illness.

She was born on November 14, 1930, in Clearfield, a daughter of the late George and Mary Resko Lucanik.

On September 28, 1957 in Sacred Heart Church, she married Kenneth E. Wehler, who preceded her in death on October 13, 2008.

Rita was a graduate of Central High School and member of Sacred Heart Church.  She was known for a coffee shop that she ran in her early years, an adventure she greatly enjoyed.  An avid reader, Rita also belonged and enjoyed attanding a book club that was ran by the late Dick Dornisch.  She also enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by one son; Jude Wehler and his wife Sharon of St. Marys, by three grandchildren; Jacob (Molly Yetzer) Wehler, Timothy Wehler, and Nicole (Chris) Cola and by one great-grandson; Christian.  She is also survived by a sister; Monica (Thomas) Caine of Ohio.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son; Matthew Wehler in 2016, by five brothers; George, Jr., Edward, Peter, Joseph, and Robert Lucanik, by two sisters; Monica Byers and Mary Dornisch, and by a brother and sister in infancy.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Rita R. Wehler will be celebrated on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 337 Church Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Rev. Thomas Curry, OSB, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM.

Interment will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church.
