Walter Donachy Obituary

Walter J. "Walt/Wally" Donachy, 74, of 141 Queens Road, Saint Marys, passed away at home on Friday, May 19, 2023, surrounded by his loving family, after a lengthy and hard-fought battle with cancer.
He was born on June 13, 1948, in Saint Marys, son of the late Gerald and Marjorie (Caskey) Donachy, Sr.
Walt is survived by his wife of over 52 wonderful years, Jeanette (Baumer). They were married on October 24, 1970, in Saint Marys.
Walt is also survived by two children, Nicole Donachy of Rocky River, Ohio and Rebecca (Donachy) Terwilliger of Saint Marys, and two grandchildren, Cameron Terwilliger and Nico Terwilliger. Also survived by his twin sister; Barbara Secco, sisters; Geraldine (Ken) Vogt and Diane Frederick, three brothers; Paul (Shirley) Donachy, Tom (Theresa) Donachy, and Gerald Donachy, Jr., sister-in-law; Judy Donachy, and brother-in-law; Mike Cesa, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law; David Terwilliger, brother; Kenneth Donachy, sister; Karen (Donachy) Cesa, and nephews; Kenneth (Butch) Donachy, Michael Cesa, and Robert Scone.
Walt was a graduate of Saint Marys Area High School, Class of 1967. Walt served in the United States Army, and was in Long Binh, Vietnam from 1968-1969.
Walt was active with Queen of the World Parish, serving at different times as an usher at Mass, volunteer with the annual festival, and running the monthly bingo.
Walt was passionate about the Sportmen's Club and competing in trap and skeet, and was actively involved in educating and instructing youth teams. Walt also enjoyed many other activities during his lifetime, including playing the drums in a local band, serving as a Boy Scout leader, going to camp with family and friends, listening to music, playing the drums and guitar, playing cards, and playing golf. Additionally, Walt enjoyed going to the Green Lite to spend time with friends.
Walt was a member of the KFC (4th Degree), CMF, Saint Marys Legion, Eagles, PFL, Elk's, and the Moose.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Walter J. Donachy will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Fr. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, as celebrant.
Military Honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.
Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
