Wiilliam "Bill" Ginther Obituary

William J. "Bill" Ginther, 88, of 566 Windy Lane, Kersey, died on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Pinecrest Manor following a brief illness.

He was born on August 8, 1932, in St. Marys, a son of the late Robert and Erlinda Distler Ginther.

On May 21, 1977, he married the late Judith Lockwood Ginther, who preceded him in death on August 20, 2019.

Bill was a lifelong resident of the area and graduate of St. Marys High School.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  He retired from Stackpole Carbon Company after many years of service and was a member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church.  In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and watching sports.  His favorite pastime was farming, and he could often be found gardening as well.

He is survived by three daughters; Karen Hughes and her husband Mike of Roanoke, VA, Sharon Lee Ward and her husband Jeff of Hollidaysburg and Peggy Olewinski of Dubois, and by 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by four sisters; Helen Shannon of St. Marys, Dorothy Shobert of Kersey, Colleen Jones of Ridgway, and Donna (Paul) Forward of Eagle River, AK, and by two brothers; Robert (Carol) Ginther and Larry Ginther, both of St. Marys.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Allen and Byron Ginther.

Visitation and Funeral Services for William J. "Bill" Ginther are being held privately at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home with the family.

Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
