Frank A. Mahovlich, 90, of 1766 Bucktail Trail, St. Marys, died peacefully at his home on Friday, January 6, 2017 surrounded by his family following a brief illness.

He was born on October 12, 1926, in St. Marys, a son of the late George and Rose Balaban Mahovlivh.

On November 24, 1949 in St. Marys Church, he married Roseanne Wolfe Mahovlich, who survives.  They recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary.

Frank resided in Elk County his entire life, attending school at the "Little Red School House" on West Creek Road until the 8th grade.  He went on after 8th grade to work on the railroad to support his mom and siblings at their homestead on West Creek Road.  He was a man of many talents and could do almost anything.  He ran heavy equipment to help build the East Branch and Stevenson Dams.  He ran plow truck for the state and was maintenance man for 8 years at Powder Metal Products.  He was best recognized for his concrete, block, and sandstone work.  He laid many driveways, sidewalks, basements and fireplaces throughout Elk and Cameron Counties.  He finished his career at age 80 doing concrete work at the convent.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, but his greatest achievement was his family.

In addition to his wife of more than 67 years, Roseanne Wolfe Mahovlich, he is survived by two sons, David J. Mahovlich and Donald E. Mahovlich and his wife Susan, both of St. Marys, and by a daughter, Renee Mourer and her husband Scott of St. Marys.  He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Brandon (Karen) Mahovlich, Dustin (Kira Smith) Mahovlich, Toby Mahovlich, Jenna Mahovlich, Eric Sadley, Emily Mourer, Nicole Merat and Morgan Mourer and by four great-grandchildren, Kenzie and Kyndra Mahovlich, Ian Merat and Damion Close as well as by a brother, Joe (Peg) Mahovlich, a sister, Helen Goodman, three brothers-in-law, Alvin, Dave, and Jim Wolfe, and by two sisters-in-law, Doris Woelfel and Jeanne Brem as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son at age 8, Ronald E. Mahovlich, by three brothers, George, Steve, and Ivan Mahovlich and by four sisters, Katie Zoschg, Barb Reed, Annie Paropacic, and Margie Shoup.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Frank A. Mahovlich will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at 10:00 AM at St. Marys Church, Church Street, St. Marys, PA with Rev. Alfred Patterson, OSB, officiating.
Interment will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, January 10, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
