Once again I have received sad news from my hometown about the passing of yet another important person in my life from my years growing up in St. Marys. I lived on Wehler Road back in the day and “our neighborhood” ran from the corner of Wehler and South Michael Roads to just beyond Jack’s home. I have fond memories of Jack being my team captain for Capture the Flag and other group games. More importantly, Jack was one of my deceased brother Paul’s closest friends and a pallbearer at his funeral. I will always remember Jack’s kindness to my grieving parents in the years following Paul’s tragic death. During hunting season each year thereafter, up until their deaths, Jack brought venison sausage and steaks to my parents to replace what Paul used to provide. That sweet gesture so touched me that Jack Erich will forever have a place in my heart. To all of Jack’s family, I want to express my gratitude to you for his life. Jack Erich was a gentle and kind soul and a very good man indeed. My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of sorrow. God bless.
