Margaret H. Schatz, 90, a resident of Forest View Skilled Nursing Center in Erie, and formerly of 142 Lafayette Street, St. Marys, died on Sunday, April 17, 2016 in Erie following a lengthy illness.

She was born on October 25, 1925, in Ridgway, a daughter of the late John and Susan Jacobs Dickant.

On September 13, 1958 in St. Leo's Church in Ridgway, she married Richard W. Schatz, who preceded her in death on March 12, 2003.

Mrs. Schatz graduated from St. Leo's School and received her nursing degree from St. Vincent School of Nursing.  She worked in Camden, NJ for several years, at the former Elk County General Hospital for more than 20 years and retired in 1995 from Elk Haven Nursing Home after more than 17 years of service.  She enjoyed knitting, reading, and cooking.  She loved traveling with her husband and her family was her priority.  She was a member of St. Marys Church and the Nurse's Study Club.

She is survived by a daughter, Susan Quinn and her husband Patrick of McKean, PA, a son, Mark Schatz and his wife Barbara of St. Marys, five grandchildren, Angela Schatz, Jeffrey Twoey, Abigail Quinn, Justin Kephart and Amanda (John) Mallett and by several great grandchildren.  She is also survived by a brother, John (Carol) Dickant of Ridgway and by three sisters, Rose Mary (Jack) Geer of St. Marys, Sr. Perpetua Dickant, SSJ, of Erie, PA and Mary Rita (Robert) Simons of Franklin, PA as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Dickant and a sister, Agnes Rafaloski.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret H. Schatz will be celebrated on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at 12:00 PM at St. Marys Church, Church Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Rev. Alfred Patterson, OSB, officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 9:30 AM until 11:30 AM.
